Feeling good people! Knock on wood! You know what I mean…where you’re happy to function “normally” for a change and not be panicked from moment to moment. Whether this lasts for a few weeks or the next few years, there is nothing like this sense of freedom.
Some of my young ulcerative colitis or crohn’s friends endure so much and want to give up many days. By “give up”, I mean having to watch everything you put in your mouth, keeping up with a multitude of pills and supplements, or designer IV drug infusions. But we don’t have that option. We didn’t choose these diseases, but they exist for many of us, and we do what we need to do to stay ahead of them. To improve enough to enjoy even one good day is worth the fight.
Today I went running with my daughter (she’s 8 years old), and I think we may have a future Team Challenger in the making! I may not be the fastest or the strongest, but in the eyes of my children there is nothing I can’t do! When you are able, step out of your comfort zone and find what makes you feel powerful. No matter how big or small, it will do wonders for your state of mind.
